Safety Light — Support
A bright flashlight and high-visibility colour signal light for iPhone and Apple Watch.
Quick help
- Pick a colour, pick a flash mode, tap Turn on. The controls hide so the
light fills the screen — tap the screen to bring them back, or tap Turn off.
- Use the Screen / Flashlight / Both control to choose the light source —
the colour screen, the rear LED torch, or both at once.
- The screen stays awake while the light is on, so it won’t auto-lock. Locking your phone
turns the light off (a normal iPhone limitation).
- The Apple Watch app works on its own and uses the watch screen as the
light (the watch has no LED flashlight).
- The app opens on Blink, a gentle “be seen” flash. Strobe
is the only rapid mode — avoid it if you or anyone nearby is sensitive to flashing light.
Apple Watch — keeping the light visible when your wrist is down
Apple Watch turns its screen off when you lower your wrist — that’s built into watchOS and
no app can fully override it (only a Workout can, which Safety Light deliberately doesn’t
start, so it never needs Health access). Safety Light does the best watchOS allows: on an
Always-On watch (Series 5 and later) the colour stays softly lit
when your wrist is down instead of going dark, and it jumps back to the full bright flash the
moment you raise your wrist.
For the strongest wrist-down glow, set these once on your watch:
- Settings → Display & Brightness → Always On — turn on.
- Settings → Display & Brightness → Wake Duration → Wake for 70 Seconds.
- Settings → General → Return to Clock → Safety Light → After 1 hour — keeps
the app and its light showing instead of returning to the watch face.
